"PowerSync" (referenced below) is the sub-brand of TechNWeb, which specializes in the creation of highly configurable, "out-of-the-box" software and extensions for Magento and Salesforce platforms.
Specialty paper supplier, Relyco, enjoyed PowerSync's flagship integration between Salesforce and Magento 1 for several years. Mid 2020, Magento 1 End of life compelled them to migrate to the Magento 2 platform. At this point, Relyco was unsure how to execute this complex project in a way that would retain the level of reliability that PowerSync had delivered over the years.
Since up to now, they only knew TechNWeb for their PowerSync integration between Magento and Salesforce, Relyco hired another Magento consulting agency to assist with the migration. Douglas MacGregor, VP of Operations at Relyco, said that the agency proposed a cogent solution after six months of "back and forth."
MacGregor said, "I could tell they had just googled, 'Sync Salesforce and Magento,' and they came up with this $800 solution."
Scrambling for a truly viable option, MacGregor reached out to PowerSync. Using Slack to collaborate in real-time, PowerSync and Relyco transition to a working integration within a few weeks. "I think that can be frustrating sometimes when you're working with someone, and it can be days in between responses," MacGregor said. "We never had that [with PowerSync] — it was more like hours."
According to MacGregor, what sets PowerSync apart is the fact that the company truly understands Magento and Salesforce.
"You get plenty of eCommerce people that maybe understand Salesforce to a degree," MacGregor said. "They say they can do it, but not if you don't really know the idiosyncrasies of both systems, which I think PowerSync really does. I think that's what really made it key — you knew both systems."
While working together on the Magento 2 + Salesforce integration, PowerSync CEO Igor Krasnykh was able to help identify additional functionalities that would cover more use cases and fill more gaps, particularly as it relates to conducting business as an online B2B merchant.
